Wyoming Air National Guard Headquarters
This Wyoming Air National Guard project—known as Building 16—involved the full renovation of a 1940s-era hangar and warehouse facility. The construction effort stripped the structure down to its concrete “bones,” enabling a complete reorganization of interior spaces and major improvements to the building envelope’s performance.
After decades of partial remodels and incremental modifications, the 173,000‑square‑foot facility had become worn, inefficient, and difficult to navigate. The comprehensive renovation, with a project cost of $25 million, introduced new programming and a fully restructured layout designed to support current operational needs and personnel. The overhaul included upgrades to the exterior envelope as well as new mechanical and electrical systems.
To support technological adaptability, raised flooring systems were incorporated, ensuring long-term flexibility and accommodating future modifications with minimal disruption.
Notably, the project was designed in pursuit of LEED Silver certification.
